Classic meets modern in these chairs by Davis Allen for Knoll, 1983. Davis Allen was an American designer and architect for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. These chairs where manufactured and sold through Knoll studio. A stunning and sculptural black lacquered spindle chair, sturdy enough for heavy use.
The main difference between the Davis Allen Exeter chair and the Stendig Arm Chair is their manufacturer and the name under which they were originally sold. The Exeter chair is a design originally created by Davis Allen for Stendig International as the "Andover" chair in 1983. When Stendig went out of business, Knoll reintroduced the same design 10 years later as the Exeter chair.
